Saltsea Chronicles is a story-driven adventure game, where you explore strange and wonderful communities, uncover a deep conspiracy, choose where to go and which crew members to investigate with, and chart a journey through twists and turns, difficulties and delights.
I worked on Saltsea Chronicles from end-to-end as both Lead Programmer and Technical Narrative Designer.
I joined the fully remote Saltsea Chronicles team during pre-production in mid 2020. One of my major and first tasks was to focus on tools and pipelines for a Writers Room centered development process using Ink and Unity. I have a strong sense of story within game systems, and coupled with my communication skills I was able to effectively set up robust systems and documentation which operated for 3 years.
As Lead Programmer my role was to support the other programmers in planning their work, coordinating workflows with all other departments, to document features for other departments, set coding guidelines, and keep development on track for external and internal milestones.
Apart from leadership, narrative systems and tools I worked on all systems wherever help was needed, such as system architecture, UI, tech art, story tech, QA, release management, source control and always having open ears for my colleagues.
Saltsea Chronicles was released on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, Windows and Mac and has a Metacritic score of 83.
